Hello beautiful Denmark 🇩🇰!

Straight across the country

From Bendorf in Rhineland-Palatinate, the route took us north.
Of course, we didn't drive the roughly 650 km to the ferry on Fehmarn in one go.
First, we headed through NRW to an idyllic fishing lake in Surwold, Lower Saxony.

The weather greeted us in "typical northern German fashion" – meaning lots of rain. We completely forgot to snap a photo or two here.

We also stopped for a night near Bremen. Was the weather any better there? Nope! 😉

Third time's the charm: crappy weather in Hamburg (or "Schietwedder," as they'd say up north) 😉
Who's surprised by that? 🙂

Next stop: Schleswig-Holstein!

The sixth and, for now, last German federal state we crossed in record time (more like snail's pace, really).

And would you look at that: great weather!

Sierhagen is idyllic! With a view straight out over the water, and from one lookout point, even over to Hansa-Park.

This is where the wildlife said goodnight.

Sea in sight!

Our plush four-legged friend cheekily stuck his nose right out the window the moment the Baltic Sea suddenly appeared outside.

It's been a good three months since we were last by the sea! 🙂

With Scandlines, we crossed a thankfully pretty calm sea from Puttgarden on Fehmarn to Rødby in Denmark.

In Orehoved, we settled into a lovely spot in Guldborg for a few days, right on the Guldborgsundbroen.
A wonderful atmosphere between sailors, anglers, a dense mixed forest, and countless beautifully designed little fairy-tale houses scattered throughout it.

Vordingborg/Skaverup

Near Vordingborg, we spent a shared week with dear friends of ours, who were also on vacation in Denmark.

What a wonderful time it was with you two! Together we discovered new places as well as spots we already knew, like Copenhagen. The definite highlight was cooling off at Kalvebod Bølge right in the middle of the city.

Boesdal/Stevns Klint

After a week, sadly, it was once again time to say goodbye.
We headed northeast to the impressive chalk cliffs Stevns Klint.

We had a few lovely days here. Climbing up the lighthouse in particular was pretty daring.
On the last few steps, you had to duck your head just to keep going – and the exit door, at what felt like 90 cm tall, was even funnier. But the view was totally worth it! 🙂

In a few days, we're headed to the neighboring country of Sweden.
We'll see what adventures await us there.
